Concorso Cortometraggi
Il Premio dei Premi nella categoria cortometraggi sarà attribuito sabato 26 aprile 2008 durante la serata finale del festival da una giuria internazionale composta da animatori ed esperti di fama mondiale, chiamati a scegliere il migliore fra tutti i film che abbiano ricevuto il primo premio in uno dei più importanti festival o eventi internazionali del decennio in corso. Solo i film che abbiano ottenuto un tale riconoscimento tra il 1° gennaio 2000 al 1° marzo 2008 si sono qualificati per il Premio dei Premi.
I premi considerati qualificanti per la categoria cortometraggi sono stati i seguenti:
- il Grand Prix del Festival International du Film d'Animation di Annecy (Francia), il festival europeo e mondiale più antico e prestigioso, fondato nel 1960
- il Grand Prize dell'Animafest di Zagabria (Croazia), il secondo festival europeo e mondiale più antico, fondato nel 1972
- il Grand Prize dell'Ottawa International Animation Festival (Canada), il festival non europeo più antico, fondato nel 1976
- il Grand Prize dell'Hiroshima International Animation Festival (Giappone), il secondo festival non europeo più antico, fondato nel 1985
- l'Oscar per il miglior cortometraggio animato, assegnato fin dal 1932 dall'Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences di Hollywood
- il BAFTA Award per il miglior cortometraggio animato, assegnato dal 1989 dalla British Academy of Film and Television Arts di Londra
- il Cartoon d'Or, assegnato dal 1991 dell'ente Cartoon del Programma Media dell'Unione Europea, scegliendo fra i vincitori di tutti i maggiori festival europei.
